Remember the age of enlightenment or the renaissance? Architects were artists sculptors & builders at that time. They were supported by the church & educators. Today architects are anything but builders. They are David Stockman, “architect of the federal budget” Henry Kissinger, “architect of world peace”, etal. After 30 years of this journalistic malpractice, the most recent is Karl Rove “the architect “of politics.
As a result architects are essentially left out of the leadership in “saving” the world wide environment. They are not called upon by educators, government or the “church and have few if any patrons. Yet they are the best trained professionals capable of saving energy; protecting the environment;restructuring the housing market and realilzing natural solutions to building within our precious earth. As a result we are left with the same old, same old, factory solution of manufacturing devices to do what good design together mother nature can do in harmony with ecology.
